“Come away, O human child!
To the waters and the wild
With a faery, hand in hand,
For the world’s more full of weeping than you can understand.”
– ‘The Stolen Child’ by W. B. Yeats

Come away to the water and the wild and take some time away from technology, the heaviness of the world and all its news, and the driving pace and pressures of the day-to-day and join us for this Spring’s Camping Ceremony out at Buescher State Park in Smithville, TX. With nods to both Irish poet W.B. Yeats poem, “The Stolen Child,” and the Irish animated film, “Song of the Sea,” we will be directing our focus and curiosity towards the restorative magic and medicine of water and flow as well as our connection to the wild and our own instinct and the places where this may be aligned or injured.
With the Lunar Year of the Horse (the fire horse, to be exact) galloping in our direction, it is projected to bring with it the force of twice the fire element with the potential for much passion and forward movement and the risk of burnout because of it’s intensity and pace. With that, it is to the water element we turn as a possible balm and counterbalance to help keep the double-fire element grounded and, hopefully, just tame enough to be able to wield without incinerating us in the process.
The weekend will include several ritual and check-in circles; a balance of group and solo opportunities for connection with self, others and the Land; group drumming, storytelling and singing; and shared evening meals around the campfire (weather and burn ban status permiting). No previous camping experience is required. The trip will be limited to 8 participants.
