For the better part of the last year, I have been participating in a Celtic storytelling apprenticeship with best-selling Scottish author and host of the “House of Legends” podcast, Daniel Allison. This offering of, “The Three Nights of La Huesera,” is my final project for this apprenticeship.
Weaving together a variation of the story of La Huesera (origins: the Sonoran Desert of Northern Mexico) which I drew up from the land as part of my Myth Moot journey on Abenaki land in northern Vermont last Fall, together with three stories from the Celtic lands – one each from Wales, Scotland, and Ireland – this journey will be many-faceted with plenty of opportunities for audience participation (should you choose to engage in that way).
Snacks will be provided and the stories within a story (which will run about 75 mins in length) will be followed with a debrief and Q & A about the process and the story.

***As reconciliation practice and in support of Colombian-born Tucson artist, Alvaro Enciso’s, “Donde Mueren Los Sueños/Where Dreams Die” ongoing project to remember and mourn those who have died and continue to die trying to cross the Sonoran desert at the US Mexico border into Arizona in search of a life that isn’t possible for them in their countries of origin, 25% of funds received from this event will be donated to the organization Tucson Samaritans. Volunteers from Tucson Samaritans accompany Alvaro on each trip he makes into the desert to mark the place where a migrant’s remains have been found and leave clean water for others who may pass that way on an equally treacherous journey. Since 2001, the remains of 3,000 such migrants have been found.
