“The Three Nights of La Huesera”

“The Three Nights of La Huesera” is my final project for my year-long Myth Singers Celtic storytelling apprenticeship with Scottish storyteller, host of “House of Legends” podcast, and author, Daniel Allison.

It is a weave of a version of the story of La Huesera (“The Bone Woman”) which originally hails from the Sonoran Desert together with three of my favorite Celtic myths – “The Birth of Taliesin” (Wales), “The Seal Hunter” (Scotland), & “Mis and Dubh Ruis” (Ireland).

The version of La Huesera shared here was one that came to me in the Green Mountains on Abenaki Land (northern Vermont) during an event called Myth Moot in 2025 as 20+ of us from the US & Canada came together for 5 or so days to grieve collectively about all that is in the world currently; to listen to some of the stories of the Abenaki hero, Koluscap, and learn from their wisdom; and then listen deeply to the land for stories that wanted to come through and be brought back to our respective communities as medicine, as pieces of a map to help guide our way through all that is collapsing and dissolving into something new.

I am deeply grateful to all who showed up for this event and made it such a joy to share these stories in this way. Below are links related to pieces mentioned at different points in the video that may be helpful: ‬
